Emergency Care for Dental Injuries
Accidents, sports injuries, and falls can cause sudden trauma to the teeth and surrounding structures. Prompt evaluation and treatment are essential to protect your oral health and improve the chances of saving an injured tooth.
Our team provides timely, specialized care for dental trauma using advanced diagnostic tools and evidence-based treatment protocols.
Dislodged (Luxated) Teeth
A dislodged tooth has been pushed out of its normal position but remains in the mouth. This type of injury requires immediate professional attention.
Your dentist or endodontic specialist will carefully reposition and stabilize the tooth to support healing. In some cases, root canal therapy may be recommended depending on the condition of the pulp tissue.
If the pulp remains healthy, no additional treatment may be necessary. However, if signs of inflammation or infection develop, root canal treatment may be required to preserve the tooth.
Knocked-Out (Avulsed) Teeth
When a tooth is completely knocked out, immediate action is critical. Quick response significantly increases the likelihood of successful reimplantation.
If a tooth is knocked out:
-
Handle the tooth by the crown only (avoid touching the root)
-
If possible, gently place the tooth back into the socket
-
If reinsertion is not possible, keep the tooth moist
-
Store it in milk, saline solution, or inside your cheek if safe to do so
-
Seek emergency dental care immediately
The length of time the tooth remains outside the mouth and how it is stored play a major role in treatment success.
Your endodontist will evaluate the stage of root development and overall condition of the tooth to determine whether root canal therapy or additional treatment is necessary.
